Delivering Digital and Technology for Local Public Services – iESE Conference

Dom recently made the trip to Church House in Westminster to take part in iESE’s autumn conference – Delivering Digital and Technology for Local Public Services.

The conference itself brought together people from different public authorities and agencies to discuss and share the various projects across the public sector.

The speaker’s specialisms ranged from Analytics, AI and cyber security to ‘achieving a truly end-to-end customer journey’ and ‘transforming services through children’s voices’.

SDS were asked to present on how we deliver digital services using customer insight, and specifically, how we work in a partnership and the benefits of doing so.

We went through how we:
• Design digital processes and services around our users through taking a ‘customer first’ approach to process redesign
• Gain key insights into users experience through carrying out user research
• Creating digital customer journeys based on our user research and the creation of personas
• User testing new or improved digital services to ensure that they meet user needs
• Share our skills and knowledge with our partners
• Share our ongoing projects, best practice and practical learnings with each other across the partnership

The conference was set up with different guest stands around the hall, of which SDS were one of the exhibitors, a stage at the front of the hall and six large round tables in the middle where all the attendees were situated.

All of the speakers on the day were asked to go around each of the six tables providing a 5-minute presentation on their chosen subject. Yes – it’s OK to think it, it was in the same format as speed dating!

After the presentations were made to each of the six large tables, all of the presenters were asked to take to the stage in order to participate in the Q&A where all of there attendees had an opportunity to ask questions to the presenters.

It was a well-run event with great networking opportunities so keep your eye out for iESE’s next event.

Also, as mentioned above, the event took place at Church House, in the same hall that Winston Churchill used as his office during World War II. We managed to position ourselves right by one of his famous quotes on the wall – take a look!
